Self-Care Tips for Busy Moms

Being a mom is an incredibly rewarding experience, but it can also be demanding and exhausting!

Between caring for your children, managing your household, working outside of the home, and juggling a busy social life, it can be easy to put your own needs on the back burner.

Mom's here is your SIGN to prioritize your self because you simply deserve it!

Self-care guide for busy moms

Taking care of yourself is crucial for your own well-being and for your ability to be the best mom you can be.

Here are self-care tips for busy moms:

#1 - Prioritize rest and sleep

It can be tempting to stay up late while being a busy mom! You find excuses to get some extra work done or to have some time to yourself, but getting enough sleep is crucial for your physical and mental health.

Aim to get 7-8 hours of sleep per night, and consider taking a nap during the day if you need it.

According to National Institutes of Health:

Good sleep improves your brain performance, mood, and health. Not getting enough quality sleep regularly raises the risk of many diseases and disorders. These range from heart disease and stroke to obesity and dementia.

#2 - Make time for movement

An often overlooked self-care tip for busy moms is movement! Exercise actually releases the "feel good" endorphins in your brain! These endorphins help improve your mood, prevent pain, and fight depression & anxiety.

Even if you can only squeeze in a quick 10-minute walk or some yoga stretches, make it a priority to move your body every day.

#3 - Connect with others

Being a busy mom can be isolating, so it's important to make time for social connections. Making social connections, getting out of your comfort zone and generally having a good time is a great self-care tip for all moms.

Whether it's meeting up with friends for coffee or joining a mom's group, connecting with others can help you feel supported and less alone.

Don't forget to LAUGH often. Laughter sometimes is the best medicine!

#4 - Practice self-compassion

It's easy to be hard on yourself as a busy mom, but practicing self-compassion as a form of self-care can help you be kinder to yourself.

Be gentle with yourself when things don't go as planned, and remember that you're doing the best you can.

“Remember, you have been criticizing yourself for years and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.”

#5 - Seek help when you need it

Being a mom is hard work, and it's okay to ask for help when you need it.

Whether it's asking your partner to take on some of the household chores or reaching out to a therapist for support, don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it.

#6 - Eat well

As a busy mom a form of self-care can be comfort foods. We also know that eating on the go happens more often than not. However, eating a healthy, balanced diet is important for your physical and mental health.

Make sure you're getting plenty of fruits and vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains, and try to avoid processed foods and sugary snacks.

A great self-care tip for busy moms is to start saving recipes that use whole foods and are easy to make, meal prep and eat on the go!

Self care away you busy moms!

Remember, taking care of yourself isn't selfish – it's essential for your own well-being and for your ability to be the best mom you can be. Make self-care a priority, and you'll be better equipped to handle the demands of motherhood with grace and ease.
